The Thohoyandou Magistrates Court denied bail to a 30-year-old stepfather from Tshitereke village in the Vhembe region for allegedly raping an 11-year-old boy.

According to National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi, the guy, an assistant teacher, is charged with two counts of rape, sexual assault, five counts of child abuse, and one act of assault with intent to inflict serious bodily harm.

According to Malabi-Dzhangi, the suspect reportedly preyed on an 11-year-old child and his mother between 2020 and 2021, however the instances were not reported until the victim told a relative on November 21, 2021.

She claims the individual submitted an affidavit stating that he would lose his job and suffer financial loss if he was imprisoned while innocent.
