Troopers Mack and Sisca were dispatched to assist a man walking on I-95 southbound near the stadium area, according to state police.

The troopers approached the man who was walking in the left lane of I-95. As the troopers attempted to apprehend the man and walk him to his vehicle, a female driver in an SUV slammed into all three men and their patrol car at high speed.

The force of the impact, according to authorities, was so great that it forced the troopers into I-95’s northbound lanes. After colliding with the troopers, civilians, police SUV, and left-hand barrier, the striking vehicle came to a halt in the right shoulder. The motorist did not flee the scene.

When Troopers Mack and Sisca did not react on their radios, Dispatch requested backup. As witnesses attempted CPR on the troopers, backup arrived. Both were declared dead on the spot.

According to a law enforcement source, state police performed a traffic stop involving the striking car soon before the incident, according to FOX 29’s Steve Keeley. According to reports, troopers were responding to allegations of pedestrians walking on I-95, therefore the stop was shortened.

The driver’s side of the troopers’ SUV was severely damaged, with both the front and rear doors wrenched from their hinges. The striking vehicle’s front end was severely damaged.

During a late-morning press conference, state police stated that they are currently conducting an active ‘DUI-related’ investigation.

A accident on I-95 on Monday morning killed two Pennsylvania State Troopers and a citizen. Police escorted a procession from the crash site to the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Around 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. Monday morning, separate police procession led both of the fallen officers from the scene to the medical examiner’s office.

Between Broad Street and the Walt Whitman Bridge, both northbound and southbound lanes of I-95 were closed in both directions. Around 9 a.m., both directions of the highway reopened.

Governor Wolf and state police officials offered an update on the Monday morning crash that killed two state troopers and a citizen.

Governor Tom Wolf of Pennsylvania issued a message on Twitter Monday morning in response to the crash.

“The loss of these two troopers and the person they were assisting has severely upset Frances and me. We’re hoping for the best for them and their loved ones. This tragedy serves as a reminder that every day, our law enforcement personnel risk their lives to defend us and our communities “Wolf penned the text.

Trooper Mack joined the force in 2014, while Sisca had just graduated from the academy and enrolled in February of 2021, according to officials.

Colonel Robert Evanchick remarked, “Our department is heartbroken over the tragedy that occurred early this morning in Philadelphia.” “We ask that our fellow Pennsylvanians remember the families of the troopers and the pedestrian. This is a particularly trying period.”

According to a press release from the Pennsylvania State Troopers Association, both Mack and Sisca were organ donors who gave organs to the Gift of Life Program.
